MEXICO CITY:
We flew to Mexico City and toured the downtown area. The Plaza de la Constitución contains the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral, the oldest and largest cathedral in all of Latin America.

MÉRIDA, YUCATÁN:
We next visited Mérida, the vibrant capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán. We stayed at the Hotel Casa del Balam.

While there, we toured the Museo Regional de Antropología (Regional Museum of Anthropology), located in the Palacio Cantón, a beautiful colonial building.

UXMAL:
From Mérida, we visited Uxmal, site of Mayan ruins.

We made a stop at a rope making plant in Hoctún, Yucatán, a major industry in the area.

Then we visited the famous ruins at Chichén Itzá, and stayed at the Mayaland Hotel & Bungalows

We old visited Chichén Viejo (Old Chichén).

We relaxed by the pool and beach in Cancún.

COZUMEL ISLAND:
Finally, we took a ferry to Cozumel Island, relaxed on the beach, snorkeled, and rode mopeds around the island.
