Named after pioneer Enos T. Hotchkiss, the town is now a hub for outdoor recreation, featuring local orchards and vineyards. Hotchkiss is a designated Colorado Creative District and is an excellent destination for those seeking a slower pace and access to fresh food and art.

In the fall of 2013 Mary Hockenberry bought an old church in Hotchkiss, Colorado and transformed it into an art gallery, the Church of Art. While it is now permanently closed, you can still tour its exterior.
